How CO2 Monitors Indicate Elevated COVID Risk due to poor ventillation
You are probably aware from information on climate change that the CO2 in the atmosphere is now approximately 420 parts per million (ppm). When people (whether sick or healthy) exhale, they exhale CO2. When people with COVID infections exhale, they will exhale COVID particles. In a poorly ventilated area with people in it, CO2 will accumulate. If one or more of those people is sick, then COVID particles will accumulate.
If people open windows (and perhaps use window fans) in response to high CO2 readings from their CO2 monitor, then outside air will be exchanged with the indoor air that is high in CO2 molecules and, perhaps, high in COVID particles.
